This year will be GABC South's fourth annual Kidfish! We're excited to bring this great day of fun and sun to South Tyler. Kidfish is a free event for all kids where they can learn the basics of fishing by hooking some worms, catching some fish, and maybe even winning a prize along the way!
Kidfish is June 2nd from 9-11 PM.
That means fishing will start at 9, and will probably wrap up by 11. From 11-12, hang around for watermelon and a watermelon seed spitting contest! That will be followed by the trophy presentations.
Kidfish is at Green Acres' ROC property located at 18700 US Hwy 69 S, Tyler, TX 75703. The ROC's lake is located at the back end of the property. Just follow to road to the back parking lot, and you'll find it. There will be plenty of volunteers to help you find your way.
All kids will have the opportunity to fish around the ROC lake. The ROC boasts some pretty good size bass, catfish, perch, and maybe even some other fish! Kids are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, but for anyone who doesn't have any, GABC South will have rod and reels for them to borrow. Bait will also be available. Snag a fish, measure it, get your picture taken, report your catch, and you might win one of the day's trophies!
While you're fishing, the GABC South HUB Student Ministry will be serving free snow cones and water. When the fishing is over, we'll serve up some juicy watermelon and even have a seed spitting contest!
