Green Acres South Staff

  • Dustin Slaton

    Campus Pastor

Dustin is a native of Jacksonville, TX, and was a member of Green Acres during high school. He'll tell you that he always hoped to be able to return and serve at GABC, so becoming the South Campus Pastor in 2014 was literally a dream come true! Before coming to Green Acres South, he served twelve years in student ministries in Arkansas, Colorado, and Texas. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Ouachita Baptist University and an Advanced Master of Divinity from Southwestern Seminary.

Dustin's hope for Green Acres South is for it to be a home for all people in South Tyler, Whitehouse, Flint, Bullard, and everywhere in between, where people can grow in faith and be sent out to live on mission each day. As Campus Pastor, Dustin teaches on Wednesday evenings, provides pastoral care for the church, and works with staff and volunteers to give leadership to our various ministries.

Dustin has been married to the love of his life, Melody, since 2003, and they have four awesome kids!!

  • Gary Jordan

    Music Minister

Gary grew up in Pittsburg, TX, and has been a band director in colleges and high schools for over 40 years. He is currently the director for the Bullard High School band. Gary has been the Music Minister at GABC South since 2010. He and his wife Tracy have been tremendous blessings to the church.

  • Boogie grew up in Tyler, where he attended Robert E. Lee High School and was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Boogie was part of Colonial Hills when they originally planted Oakbrook Baptist Church, which later became Green Acres South. He and his wife Karen met while both students in the College Ministry of Green Acres.

Boogie spent a few years in the Christian music business, and then the secular business world, before surrendering to full time ministry. Since then he has served in area churches as Student Pastor, Small Groups Minister, and Associate Pastor.

Boogie returned to student ministry when he came to Green Acres South in 2015. His prayer for The HUB Student Ministry is for it to be a place where students from all walks of life can come to RE:Fresh, RE:Fuel, and RE:Focus, so that when God calls they can say, “Here I am. Send me.”

When not raising three kids with Karen, Boogie enjoys the solitude of an early morning, laying on a beach, writing music, playing drums, playing drums, and playing drums.

  • Michelle is originally from Eldorado, IL. As a member of FBC Eldorado, she was a children's Sunday School teacher, VBS leader, and church pianist for several years. She and her husband, Thom met there while he was serving as youth pastor. When Thom entered New Orleans Baptist Seminary, Michelle served as an accompanist for the school and taught in the Preschool Education Center. In the churches they have served, Michelle has led Mother's Day Out, kids' choir, Sunday School, and has taught elementary school.

Michelle joined the GABC South staff in 2018. She has brought welcome changes to the ministry to create an environment that is even more fun and still instills the truth of God's Word in the hearts of the kids. Her hope is that kids will know and understand the love of Jesus and his plan for their lives.

Michelle has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Management and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy. When not serving at GABC South, she also works at The Burks Team Re/Max realty office. Michelle and Thom have three children, from high school to college age.
