Orange / Deweyville

In March 2016, communities in Southeast Texas, along the Sabine River, were hit with record breaking floods. Tens of thousands of people were in the region were left with damaged homes, many with no one to turn to for help. The Texas Baptist Men has committed long-term resources to help many of these families get back in their homes.

TBM Long Term Recovery seeks to serve individuals and families affected by disasters that are uninsured, disabled and elderly. We work with disaster survivors throughout the long term restoration process by partnering with local churches, associations and other recovery teams, to mobilize volunteers, gather and transport donated items, provide prayer and spiritual support and raise awareness of specific needs.

GABC South's Trip

Green Acres South is partnering with Texas Baptist Men to get some of these families back in their homes. We will be installing insulation and sheetrock and doing some light work outside. There is a place for men and women, young and old, and of any skill level to serve on this trip!


Food and housing is provided by a local church. One need will be for someone to help with food preparation at the location where we will be staying. 


The team will leave Sunday afternoon on June 18, and return Friday afternoon June 23.

    Orange is located on the Sabine river, right at the border of Texas and Louisiana. It is just under a four hour drive from Tyler. GABC South team members will be caravanning down to the location, but you are also welcome to meet us down there. 


    Please keep in mind, Orange is the expected location of the projects, but this could change due to need.  Any changes would still be in the same general area.

  • Cost & Payment

    Cost: $75


    This cost covers your meals and housing at a church facility for the three nights/days. All building materials are provided by GABC South and the Texas Baptist Men, and no additional cost will be incurred by team members on the trip. 


    The housing will be a church facility, which means you will need to provide your own bedding, including a cot if you prefer to sleep of the ground. If you would like to secure a hotel for the week, that additional cost would be your responsibility. The amount to be paid to GABC South would then be reduced to $49. 


    Full Payment is due by June 1, 2017

  • Registration

    You can register using GABC 's Managed Missions website. When you arrive at the site, you will need to create a login and profile. When you reach the "Preferred Trip" page, select "Disaster Relief 2017." From there, you will be able to complete an application and see what other information is needed. You will also be able to make payments for the trip.
