in 2014, Green Acres Baptist Church decided the current South Campus facilities were in need of a major facelift. Fitzpatrick Architects in Tyler, who had designed many of the buildings at the Tyler Campus, were chosen to design new and expanded facilities for the South Campus. What resulted was a 20,000 square foot project consisting of brand new education space, expanded and upgraded worship facilities, and additional parking. All of this helps to create an improved worship and fellowship experience for members and guests.
The new worship center provides a place for church members and guests to worship through music, hearing from God's Word, and giving offerings. Top of the line audio/visual equipment creates an environment for pristine quality music performance and a situation well suited to the live fed video message from Bro. David Dykes' preaching at the Tyler Campus.
Behind the new worship center are three classrooms and a food preparation area. The Hub Student Ministry and The Bridge meet in these rooms, as well as some of our adult Sunday Morning Bible Study classes.
The brand new Education Wing of the church houses our nursery, children's ministry and some adult classes. It also has a large lobby area where members and guests can fellowship and easily transition from Sunday Morning Bible Study to Worship without getting out into the elements. The lobby has a reception area where people can find information about the church, ministries, and events.
This new building provides great new space for our children's ministry, ensuring a safe environment for them to have fun while learning about their Savior.
The space for the adult classes is large and very versatile. It allows us to have larger SMBS classes, and two rooms have a retractable divider between them so they can be opened into one larger room.
GABC South has a long history, which is different than most churches. We've experienced triumph and endured trials in our 25 year history, but we believe through it all God has led us and our best days are yet to come.
